Newy hits twice in GABS Hottest 100 with Shout, Modus

Newcastle breweries have earned back-to-back spots in the GABS Hottest 100 Craft Beer countdown today, with Shout Brewing Co. picking up the 66th spot and Modus Brewing coming in one further back in 67th.

Shout was crowned in the top 70s for its Mullet Pale Ale while Modus’ winning drop was its Modus Cerveza.

This is the second year running Modus, which is based in Merewether on Merewether Street, has claimed a spot in the GABS countdown with its Cerveza, after the light-bodied lager debuted at number 37 in the 2023 countdown—the best a Newy craft beer has ever finished. At the time, the Modus Cerveza was a new kid on the block.

Mountain Culture Beer Co. took out the number one spot in the GABS list this year with the Status Quo, while Balter Brewing (Balter XPA) and BentSpoke Brewing Co. (Crankshaft) rounded out the top three.

You can see—and we imagine try a few—of the top 100 here on the GABS Hottest 100 site.
